Eat Street Northshore
Eat Street Northshore is a foodie’s dream come true. At this nightlife hotspot, you can eat your way around the world while soaking up the carnival-like atmosphere and listening to rockin’ fantastic live music. Eat Street is a pedestrian-only area where you can take the whole family – including your dog – for a stroll.
A highlight is the food. Hundreds of merchants sell goodies from all over the world, including Malaysian, Mexican, and Peruvian cuisines, as well as paella. This isn’t haute cuisine by any stretch of the imagination, but if you’re seeking for some foreign comfort foods – and inventive interpretations of them – this is the place to go.
Anyone for a mac and cheese burger? Pizza from Japan? Camembert that’s been deep-fried? You’ll find everything you need right here. The dizzying variety of cuisines available can be a little daunting. Buying some dishes to share and tasting a little bit of everything you like is a wonderful idea. The huge clouds of fairy floss (cotton candy) will delight the kids, but the sugar high will irritate the adults.
If you’re on a diet, this isn’t the place to be. Some vendors, though, do cater to celiacs. While you’re eating doughnut fries, you can rest certain that Eat Street is committed to being environmentally friendly: all of the merchants are housed in colourful shipping containers, fresh food is grown on-site, packaging is compostable, and as much garbage as possible is recycled.
Live musicians and novelty acts perform on several stages, so you may choose a table based on your musical preferences and wander around throughout the evening.
Insider’s Tip: Parking is free, but boarding a ferry to Northshore Hamilton Ferry Terminal, a short 250-meter walk away, is a great way to get here. Put on your walking shoes and a pair of stretchy jeans.
