The Wheel of Brisbane
South Bank, which hosted the 1988 World Expo, is lined with parklands, plazas, and promenades. There are also a variety of restaurants in the area, as well as some great Brisbane events and cinema screenings.
Streets Beach is located in the heart of this riverbank paradise, which is right across from the CBD. On a hot Brisbane day, a swim in the man-made lagoon is a popular way to cool off. Working out at the free fitness classes, visiting the Epicurious Garden, and biking or strolling along the paths are all popular activities on South Bank. A variety of free children’s events and tours are also available.
The Wheel of Brisbane launched in 2008 to commemorate the state of Queensland’s 150th anniversary. The massive Ferris wheel is one of South Bank’s most popular tourist attractions, providing an exciting 10- to 12-minute trip with a bird’s-eye perspective of the river and city at any time of day or night.
